Carrara marble is quarried in the Carrara region of Tuscany, Italy, and is the most-specified marble in the world. It is characterized by a white-to-gray background with soft, feathery gray veining that is lighter and more linear than the bold, gold-veined Calacatta marble. Carrara comes in two grades: Bianco Carrara (white base with fine gray veining, the standard grade) and Statuario Carrara (brighter white with darker, more defined veining, the premium grade).
